Those Who Do Not Know God

There are things that people who do not know God desire in this world.
Likewise, Christians also have things they long for in this world.

However, the desires of those who do not know God and the desires of Christians are fundamentally different.

Those who live in the visible world and believe that the visible is everything only seek and desire what can be seen.

But Christians, though invisible to the eyes of the flesh, look forward to the coming world that truly exists.

They hope for an imperishable, undefiled, and unfading glorious inheritance in heaven, which, though unseen, is real.

As the Apostle Paul confessed, if what Christians hope for is only in this world,
then we would indeed be the most pitiable of all people.

(1 Corinthians 15:19)
"If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied."

This is because what Christians desire in this world is to fill up in our lives the sufferings Christ left behind for the sake of His body, the Church.

Remember, the visible is not all there is.

What is seen is temporary and will all pass away.
Though they are necessary and important for our life on earth, we must remember that they are not the ultimate objects of our hope and desire.

This present world and age are for the disobedient, not for the sons of God.

In just a little while, the One who is coming will come.

Then…
the world of the living—
the era of God’s sons—will begin.

Because this is true, Christians are not pitiable at all.
On the contrary, they are the most blessed in God's eyes.

A day of grace has begun.

Today, as you read, listen to, and meditate deeply on God’s Word, may you look forward to the coming world, endure with hope, and live a blessed day, seeking the things we ought to ask for in this world.
