Many people misunderstand faith because they have not been properly taught the Bible and do not know it.
What is more important in faith is the object of our faith.
The object of our faith is the Son of God, whom the Bible testifies about the Savior whom God the Father sent for us—God's only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
He is the very essence of God, and though He is equal with God, He became a man to save us.
The faith that the Bible testifies about begins with rightly knowing Jesus Christ, the only object of our faith, through the written Word.
1 John 4:16
"So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us."
Faith is not only knowing but also seeking God with a sincere heart, longing to meet Him. God personally meets those who earnestly seek Him and grants faith in an instant to those He has prepared.
Jude 1:3
"Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people."
Remember this:
If God does not give, no one can receive anything.
John 3:27
"To this John replied, 'A person can receive only what is given them from heaven.'"
Faith, before it becomes ours, is something given by God and comes from God.
It is not faith that comes from our will, but faith that comes from the true knowledge of the Word of God and is received by grace, a faith given freely.
2 Thessalonians 1:10
"On the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you."
A day of grace has begun.
Today, as you carefully read, listen to, and meditate on God's Word, may it be a day in which you live solely by the faith that God has given.
I pray that you experience what it truly means to be a believer.
