The Bible recorders~

wild rose* 2024. 12. 4. 10:37

The Bible records individuals whose faith and character are not immediately evident unless carefully observed and meditated upon.

While some figures may be mentioned briefly, upon deeper reflection, we can uncover profound lessons of faith worth emulating.

One such figure is Anna, a devout woman of faith.

The Bible shows that there are many ways to serve God, reflecting the diversity of His people.

Among these, there is one task that all believers can do but that few faithfully accomplish because of its great difficulty:

Remaining steadfastly devoted to the assembly of God’s people, the church, Serving God with unwavering commitment through fasting and prayer.

Anna, a prophetess from the tribe of Asher and the daughter of Phanuel, exemplifies this remarkable faith.

After being married for only seven years, she became a widow. Yet, for eighty four years as a widow, she never left the temple but served God day and night through fasting and prayer.

The Scriptures testify to her extraordinary devotion, and ultimately, she was blessed to behold the Savior she so longed to see.

Luke 2:36-38
“There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, and then was a widow until she was eighty four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.”

Among the greatest blessings one can receive from God is the privilege of serving Him and His people.

In particular, those like Anna who, despite difficult circumstances as a widow, dedicated their lives to serving God through fasting and prayer

will receive special honor, rewards, and authority from God.

A day of grace has begun.

Today, as you read, listen to, and meditate on God’s Word, may you emulate Anna the prophetess, serving God and His church through prayer.

I bless and bless you in the name of the Lord!
Amen!
