이 말씀은 지금 우리의 신앙이 어디에 서 있는지를 조용하지만 분명하게 드러냅니다.
This passage quietly yet clearly reveals where our faith stands right now.
우리는 이미 구원을 받았지만, 아직 그 구원의 완성을 보지 못한 사람들입니다. We have already received salvation, but we have not yet seen its full completion.
이미 성령을 받았지만, 아직 몸의 구속은 이루어지지 않았고, 이미 하나님의 자녀가 되었지만, 그 영광이 완전히 드러난 상태는 아닙니다.
We have already received the Holy Spirit, yet the redemption of our body has not been completed; we have already become children of God, yet that glory has not been fully revealed.
그래서 우리의 현재는 언제나 “이미”와 “아직” 사이에 놓여 있습니다.
Therefore, our present always stands between “already” and “not yet.”
사도 바울은 앞절에서 우리가 소망으로 구원을 얻었다고 말했습니다.
In the previous verse, the apostle Paul says that we were saved in hope.
이것은 구원이 불확실하다는 뜻이 아니라, 이미 시작된 구원이 완전한 모습으로 드러날 날을 향해 우리가 살아가고 있다는 뜻입니다.
This does not mean that salvation is uncertain, but that we are living toward the day when the salvation already begun will be fully revealed.
우리는 이미 하나님의 자녀이고, 이미 성령의 처음 익은 열매를 받았고, 이미 영원한 생명을 얻은 자들입니다.
We are already children of God, we have already received the firstfruits of the Spirit, and we already possess eternal life.
그러나 이 모든 것이 아직 눈에 보이는 형태로 완전히 나타나지 않았습니다.
Yet none of these have been fully manifested in visible form.
몸은 여전히 연약하고, 세상은 여전히 혼란스럽고, 우리는 여전히 탄식합니다.
Our bodies are still weak, the world is still chaotic, and we still groan.
그래서 바울은 말합니다. 보이지 않기 때문에 참음으로 기다린다고.
So Paul says that because we do not see it, we wait with patience.
성경에서 말하는 “참음”은 단순히 이를 악물고 버티는 인내가 아닙니다.
The “patience” spoken of in Scripture is not merely gritting our teeth and enduring.
헬라어 원어가 의미하는 참음은 자리를 떠나지 않는 인내, 확신 속에서 머무는 인내입니다.
The Greek word for patience means a perseverance that does not leave its place, a steadfast endurance that remains in assurance.
반드시 이루어질 것을 알기 때문에 흔들리지 않고 기다리는 상태입니다.
It is the state of waiting without being shaken because we know it will surely come to pass.
그러므로 이 기다림은 불안한 기다림이 아니라, 이미 확정된 미래를 향한 기다림입니다.
Therefore, this waiting is not anxious waiting, but waiting toward an already-secured future.
우리는 불확실한 가능성을 붙들고 있는 것이 아니라, 반드시 이루어질 영광을 바라보며 서 있습니다.
We are not holding onto uncertain possibilities, but standing while looking toward the glory that will surely come.
우리의 신앙은 끊임없이 새로운 것을 찾는 여정이 아니라, 이미 받은 것을 붙들고 끝까지 서 있는 여정입니다.
Our faith is not a journey of constantly seeking something new, but a journey of holding fast to what we have already received and standing to the end.
이미 받은 복음, 이미 받은 성령, 이미 받은 자녀의 신분을 끝까지 붙드는 삶입니다.
It is a life that holds fast to the gospel we have received, the Spirit we have received, and the identity as children we have received.
세상은 언제나 눈에 보이는 것들을 기준으로 평가합니다.
The world always evaluates by what can be seen.
당장 결과가 보이지 않으면 흔들리고, 변화가 느리면 불안해합니다.
If results are not immediately visible, it wavers; if change is slow, it becomes anxious.
그러나 성경은 우리에게 보이는 것으로 살지 말라고 말합니다.
But Scripture tells us not to live by what is seen.
보이지 않는 것을 바라며, 보이지 않기 때문에 참음으로 기다리라고 합니다.
It tells us to look to what is unseen and, because it is unseen, to wait with patience.
우리는 종종 신앙 안에서 더 많은 체험, 더 깊은 깨달음, 더 특별한 것을 찾고 싶어 합니다.
We often want more experiences, deeper insights, and something more special in our faith.
그러나 하나님이 원하시는 신앙은 끊임없이 더해 가는 신앙이 아니라, 이미 받은 것을 끝까지 붙드는 신앙입니다.
But the faith God desires is not one that constantly seeks additions, but one that holds fast to what has already been given until the end.
이미 구원받았다는 사실, 이미 자녀라는 사실, 이미 성령이 우리 안에 계시다는 사실을 믿고, 그 완성이 드러날 날까지 조용히 자리를 지키는 것입니다.
It is believing that we are already saved, already children, and that the Spirit already dwells within us, and quietly keeping our place until the day that completion is revealed.
이것이 로마서 8장이 말하는 성도의 현재입니다.
This is the present state of the believer described in Romans 8.
보이지 않는다고 해서 없는 것이 아닙니다.
Just because it is unseen does not mean it is nonexistent.
아직 드러나지 않았을 뿐입니다.
It has simply not yet been revealed.
몸의 구속도, 영광의 자유도, 완전한 회복도 반드시 옵니다.
The redemption of the body, the freedom of glory, and the complete restoration will surely come.
성령이 우리 안에 계신 것은 그날이 반드시 온다는 보증입니다.
The Spirit dwelling within us is the guarantee that day will surely come.
그래서 우리는 서두르지 않고, 흔들리지 않고, 자리를 떠나지 않습니다.
So we do not rush, we do not waver, and we do not leave our place.
지금은 보이지 않지만, 반드시 보게 될 날이 오기 때문입니다.
It is not visible now, but the day will surely come when we will see it.
오늘도 우리의 신앙은 보이지 않는 것을 향해 서 있습니다.
Even today, our faith stands toward what is unseen.
그러나 그 보이지 않는 것은 막연한 희망이 아니라, 하나님이 약속하신 확정된 미래입니다.
Yet that unseen reality is not a vague hope, but a certain future promised by God.
그래서 우리는 조용히, 그러나 확신 속에서 기다립니다.
So we wait quietly, yet with assurance.
보이지 않기에 낙심하는 것이 아니라, 보이지 않기에 믿음으로 서고, 보이지 않기에 참음으로 기다립니다.
We do not lose heart because it is unseen; rather, because it is unseen, we stand by faith and wait with patience.
보이는 것이 아니라 약속을 붙들고, 결과가 아니라 주님의 말씀을 붙들고, 흔들리는 감정이 아니라 변하지 않는 복음을 붙들며, 오늘도 우리는 그 자리에 서 있습니다.
Not holding to what is seen but to the promise, not to results but to the Lord’s word, not to shifting emotions but to the unchanging gospel, we stand in that place today.
이미 시작된 구원이 완성될 날을 바라보며, 보이지 않는 것을 바라며, 참음으로 기다리는 사람으로 살아갑니다.
Looking toward the day when the salvation already begun will be completed, we live as people who look to the unseen and wait with patience.
