Timothy 3:7
"Always learning but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth."

This verse prompts a deep reflection on the essence of learning and understanding in our faith. While the volume of knowledge and passion for learning are important, Paul warns of a grave issue—when knowledge does not work powerfully within our hearts and lives to bring us to the truth that is Jesus Christ Himself.

The problem Paul identifies here is not simply that "learning continually" is wrong; rather, it is a critique of the true purpose of learning and the direction in which learning should lead us.

Jesus was righteously angry with the Pharisees and the scribes, sternly rebuking them. Although they studied the Law and knowledge of God, their learning did not lead them to the truth. Instead, their knowledge became an ornament of pride, elevating themselves above others, or worse, a tool for injustice and self-interest.

This warning also applies to us today. We study the Bible, listen to sermons, and read various resources to learn God’s Word. Yet, if that knowledge fails to bring our hearts and lives closer to Jesus Christ, then it becomes not the bread of life that brings truth and salvation, but rather a tool of spiritual pride that may lead us to destruction.

True knowledge of God, as Christians, involves not only intellectual understanding but also a deep relationship with Him. We must remember that our knowledge of God flows from a continual, personal fellowship with Him that shapes our hearts and lives.

In this age, we are confronted with a flood of seemingly credible yet false knowledge—spread by deceitful teachers, false theologians, and misguided ministers who serve the enemy’s purposes. For this reason, we must meditate on this verse and discern whether our learning leads us to Jesus Christ, who is the Truth, and whether that knowledge, empowered by the Holy Spirit, shapes us more into His image.

A day of grace has begun.

Today, may we read, listen to, and meditate on God’s Word with care. I pray that this day will be a blessed opportunity to reflect on our life in the Word and faith.
