Deuteronomy 33:24
"About Asher he said, 'Most blessed of sons is Asher; let him be favored by his brothers, and let him bathe his feet in oil.'"
Deuteronomy 33:24 is a blessing that Moses pronounced over the tribe of Asher as part of his blessings to the tribes of Israel. However, this blessing is not only for Asher but can also be seen as a blessing for all of God's children.
The phrase "Most blessed of sons" signifies that this is a blessing to be received along with one’s descendants, a promise that the blessings of Asher will extend to future generations. It is a blessing that will have an impact on his descendants, symbolizing the inheritance of blessings that remain within God's justice and righteousness.
The phrase "let him be favored by his brothers" is also connected to this same idea. All blessings from God are not meant to remain solely personal but are meant to extend beyond the individual. Just as Joseph's branches extend beyond the wall, the blessings given to Asher imply that they will flow into the lives of those around him.
The phrase "let him bathe his feet in oil" points to the work of the Holy Spirit. In the Bible, oil is often a symbol of the Holy Spirit. When all of life's steps are guided by the Holy Spirit, such a life becomes one that is full of God's grace and abounds in blessings upon blessings.
A day full of grace has begun. Today, as you read, listen to, and meditate on the Word of God, may your steps be immersed in oil, may the blessings of God fill and overflow in your life, and may you walk as one truly blessed.
I bless you in the name of the Lord, over and over! Amen!
