When we look closely at the history of the world, it becomes clear that it is a bloody history, stained with wars and massacres.
From Nimrod, who first sought to establish a worldly empire and exalt his own name, to the rulers of nations today, the same spirit flows through the veins of all those who wield worldly power.
To expand their visible territories, to plunder the material wealth of the world, the rulers of this age continue to engage in bloody battles.
To maintain and increase their authority, they stop at no evil or injustice.
God speaks to the nations of the world, to their rulers, and to the people who fail to recognize the kingdom that God is building those who foolishly believe that the kingdoms of this world are all there is.
Habakkuk 2:12-13
"Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed and establishes a town by injustice! Has not the Lord Almighty determined that the people's labor is only fuel for the fire, that the nations exhaust themselves for nothing?"
They labor to build Babylon, a kingdom destined to be destroyed by the fire of God's judgment.
The Bible declares that their efforts will ultimately come to nothing.
However, the Scriptures also testify to a true kingdom and a people purchased by God's own blood, a kingdom that God is establishing with His redeemed.
That kingdom and its people will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord,
as the waters cover the sea an eternal world, an eternal kingdom filled with the acknowledgment of the glory of the Lord.
Isaiah 11:9
"They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea."
Habakkuk 2:14
"For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord
as the waters cover the sea."
The saints of the Most High will inherit that kingdom, and their enjoyment of it will last forever.
Moreover, the sovereignty of that kingdom, given to its people, will be eternal.
Daniel 7:18
"But the saints of the Most High will receive the kingdom and will possess it forever—yes, forever and ever."
Daniel 2:44
"In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever."
A day of grace has begun.
Today, as you carefully read, listen to, and meditate on God’s Word,
may you work alongside God to build the kingdom He has promised.
I bless and bless you in the name of the Lord! Amen!
