Evening came, and then morning followed—
And again, evening comes and is followed by morning.
No one but God
can bring an end to this cycle.
Because
it is the ordinance of heaven and earth
that God Himself established.
However,
the laws of nature and creation
are still earthly ordinances—
which means they can only be altered
by the One who established them.
The Bible testifies
that God once broke the ordinance of heaven and earth,
stopping the movement of the celestial bodies,
in response to Joshua's prayer of faith.
Joshua 10:12–14
"On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel: ‘Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.’ So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies,as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day. There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the Lord listened to a human being. Surely the Lord was fighting for Israel!"
The prophet Isaiah,
under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit,
also records these words:
Isaiah 48:13
"My own hand laid the foundations of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens; when I summon them, they all stand up together."
Search all creation
and see if there is anyone who can break the laws of nature.
There is none but God, who established them.
Look and see
if anyone can annul the eternal covenant
God made with His own blood.
The covenant God made with David,
and the covenant He established with Christians,
who are royal priests—
this covenant cannot be annulled, not even by God.
Because it is
an eternal covenant sealed with His own blood.
Jeremiah 33:20–21
“This is what the Lord says: ‘If you can break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night, so that day and night no longer come at their appointed time, then My covenant with David My servant—and My covenant with the Levites who are priests ministering before Me—can be broken.’”
This Scripture is
a firm confirmation
that God’s covenants will be fulfilled
at the appointed time without delay.
From the covenant with David
to every promise recorded in the Bible—
they will all be fulfilled exactly
at the time God has determined.
Within these covenant promises
lies the eternal destiny
of all humankind.
Just as God faithfully restored
the physical descendants of Israel
who received circumcision in the flesh,
He will also restore
the spiritual Israelites—
those who have received circumcision of the heart,
who have put off the flesh
and become a priestly nation through the circumcision of Christ,
God’s own people purchased by the blood of the Lamb.
A day of grace has begun.
Today,
as you read, hear, and meditate on God’s Word,
may you firmly hold on
to the eternal covenant
given to the descendants of Abraham and David—
to those who have been redeemed
by the blood of Christ,
the true people of heaven.
With eyes of faith and hope,
may you look toward
the eternal kingdom of David.
I bless you and bless you again
in the name of the Lord!
Amen!
